How to get involved
A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to work to help it perform as well as it can for the patients, doctors and staff. The NHS requires every practice to have one.
A PPG is a group of volunteer patients, carers and GP practice staff who meet regularly to discuss and support the running of their GP practice. PPGs look at the services the practices offer, patient experience and how improvements can be made for the benefit of patients and the practice.
The PPG enables people to be more involved in their care and providing people with opportunities to increase their skills, knowledge and confidence, people can draw on their own strengths and more effectively self-manage their condition(s).
It enables practice staff and patients the opportunity, where possible, to in the share decision-making with the running of the practice and allows patients to provide positive suggestions about the practice and be an advocate for patient preferences when appropriate.
As a member of the PPG, you will be able to assist that patients and carers are involved in decisions about the range, shape and quality of services provided by your GP practice.
To join the PPG please contact your practice reception team who will be happy to forward you details to the Chairman or email: [email protected].
