Migrant Health

We strive to provide high-quality NHS health care to everyone regardless of their race, religion, nationality, age, ability, gender identity or sexual orientation.

If you are planning on living or working in the UK you need to register with a GP. Anyone can register with an NHS GP free of charge. This applies to refugees, asylum seekers, people who are homeless or those visiting from overseas.

You do not need to show immigration status, identity documentation or proof of address to register with an NHS GP. However, it can be helpful for us and we will generally ask you to provide these documents if you are able to do so.

Free NHS services

Primary care services: Seeing a GP, pharmacist, nurse, or other healthcare professional in a GP practice is free to everyone regardless of immigration status.

Covid services: testing for coronavirus, treatment if you are eligible and vaccination services for coronavirus are free to everyone.

Refugees and asylum seekers can access all NHS care (GP and hospital treatment, including prescriptions for medication) free of charge.

Hospital Services

Hospital treatment is free to people who are ‘residents’ in the UK, those seeking asylum or granted refugee status.

More information on how overseas visitors can access healthcare can be found here:

Interpreters

Please let the reception staff know if you would like an interpreter at your appointment and what languages you speak. We can then arrange a professional interpreter to help us communicate with you.
